Sport and Remedial Massage

As well as treating soft tissue injuries, sport and remedial massage is a highly effective way of preventing injuries in the first place. They help the body in preparation for and recovery from the vigour’s of sport and exercise. It can help restore proper range of movement, treat areas of tightness and muscular imbalances as well as reducing pain and discomfort.

Soft Tissue Therapy

By carrying out an in-depth assessment of lifestyle demands, such as work and hobbies along with physical issues such as previous injuries and postural issues, a unique personal plan of treatments can be mutually agreed. This plan will include hands on soft tissue treatments along with rehabilitation exercises and stretches to restore normal movements and function in your daily life. These treatments are key in the treatment and rehabilitation of minor and chronic muscular-skeletal injuries and conditions. These treatments can benefit all, not just athletes.

Injury Rehabilitation

Using a carefully planned rehabilitation program, which is both progressive and realistic, alongside soft tissue therapy, recovery time following injury can be reduced. Hands on techniques along with mobility work can help reduce the build-up of unwanted scar tissue and restore range of movement. You will also get a self-treatment plan to take away including strengthening and stretching work. On your follow up appointment, you will be reassessed to gauge any improvement and judge the effectiveness of the plan, with regressions and progressions adopted to suit your individual needs.

Advanced Techniques

Alongside all of my treatments I include various advanced techniques that improve function, range of movement, discomfort and pain levels.

These include:

·         Muscle Energy Techniques

·         Soft Tissue Release

·         Neuromuscular Muscular Techniques

·         Myofascial Release

·         Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation

·         Myofascial Dry Cupping

·         Active Release Technique

·         Joint mobilisation

Kinesiology taping

Kinesiology tape or ‘K’ tape is a elastic cotton, stretchy tape. It is sticky backed and applied directly to the skin with varying degrees of tension. This creates tension in the skin and compresses the tissue where the tape is applied. The idea is it decompresses the tissue beneath.

This decompression allows more space in the tissue and more blood to circulate which facilitate the drainage of toxin and by-products and manages pain and injuries. K tape helps provide support and stability to muscles and joints and can improve range of movement.
